Two JGSCO Volunteers Recognized with 2011 Awards at Annual Meeting June 5th

JGSCO members Barry Halpern and Barbara Dubin were honored at the JGSCO annual meeting June 5th in Denver with “Rookie of the Year” and "Volunteer of the Year" awards.

Barbara Dubin received the "Volunteer of the Year" award in recognition of her outreach contributions on behalf of JGSCO. Barbara has been instrumental in ensuring that JGSCO have exhibit booths with activities and volunteers at the Boulder Jewish Festival and at the Rose Chanukah party in Denver. New memberships have been generated at these events as a result.

Second, Barry Halpern received the "Rookie of the Year" award in recognition of his contributions made during the past year, beginning virtually from the date of his joining. Barry has assisted the Membership Committee by calling members with reminders at renewal time, manning the sign-in desk at meetings, and taking over the monthly compilation and distribution of the JGSCO Enews.

Winners of  inaugural JGSCO awards in 2010 were Miriam Ohr, Sandra Greenberg, RitaJo Tensly, Anne Fendrich, Myndel Cohen, and Howard Steinmetz. Ohr and Steinmetz have since passed away.
